As an identical twin who lost his brother at birth, Batter is preoccupied with the dualities running through his life — right and wrong, truth and lies, rejection and acceptance. The novel blends workplace satire with a tender family mystery. It's being described as a charming, character-driven comedy about the power (and impracticality) of art.
The 21st installment in the Chief Inspector Gamache series begins with a frantic middle-of-the-night phone call reporting a body in a place called Lost Nation. Gamache has no idea where Lost Nation is, but he knows the caller sounded terrified — and the call seems to have come from his friend and neighbor, Clara Morrow. The body turns out to belong to a man who appears to be from a different century entirely, found on an unmarked grave in a long-abandoned cemetery. As Gamache's team digs deeper, the case pulls in a lost ship, a Victorian botanist's papers, and a rare plant that hasn't been seen in a hundred years. It's a typically atmospheric Three Pines mystery layered with old secrets and modern danger.
This is the long-awaited sixth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, the first since 2021's A Court of Silver Flames. Maas revealed on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast that the story she originally planned as one book grew into something much bigger, and is now being split into multiple parts — Book 6 is part one of that larger story, with Book 7 following in January 2027. No official title or synopsis has been released yet, though fan speculation points toward Elain, Feyre's sister, as a likely central figure. Given the series' history, expect more of the political intrigue and romance between the Fae courts of Prythian that made the earlier books so popular.
