Events Coordinator - Part-time

About the Role

About Us

Middleburg Books is more than just a bookstore. It’s a jewel-box of delight and discovery, the shop is a cozy sanctuary for bookish joy and a launchpad for meaningful conversation.

We believe, deeply and wholeheartedly, that stories connect us, that books can change the world, and that the magic of a good story is always within reach.

Everything about Middleburg Books is designed to feel intimate, personal, and warmly welcoming—yet alive with a contagious energy. It’s a space that hums with delight, wonder, and the quiet magic that only a room full of thoughtfully curated stories can hold.

The Role

We’re looking for an Events Coordinator to bring our story to life through unforgettable, community-centered experiences.

This role is equal parts creative producer, community builder, and logistical mastermind. You’ll design and execute a dynamic calendar of events—from author talks and book signings to literary salons, and one-of-a-kind gatherings that reflect the spirit and charm of Middleburg Books.

You’ll help ensure that every event feels like an extension of the shop itself: thoughtful, welcoming, and a little bit magical.

What You’ll Do

Event Programming & Planning

  • Develop and manage a vibrant, year-round calendar of events aligned with our brand and community

  • Identify and secure authors, speakers, and collaborators

  • Dream up creative, book-centered experiences that surprise and delight

Event Execution

  • Oversee all logistics from concept to completion (scheduling, setup, staffing, materials)

  • Host and manage events in-store and occasionally offsite

  • Ensure every guest experience feels warm, seamless, and memorable

Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with local organizations, schools, book clubs, and literary partners

  • Cultivate a sense of belonging and connection through programming

  • Serve as a welcoming, visible presence during events

Marketing & Promotion

  • Collaborate on event promotion across email, social media, and in-store channels

  • Help craft compelling event descriptions that reflect the Middleburg Books voice

  • Track attendance and engagement to inform future programming

Who You Are

  • A natural host who loves bringing people together

  • Deeply passionate about books, storytelling, and community

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Creative, curious, and full of ideas—but also able to execute them beautifully

  • Comfortable managing multiple events and timelines at once

  • Warm, engaging, and aligned with a hospitality-first mindset

  • Experience in event planning, bookstores, publishing, or hospitality

  • Existing relationships in literary or local community spaces

Bookseller - Part-time

About the Role

Are you a lifelong bookworm with deep, eclectic literary knowledge—someone who truly believes a well-chosen book can change a day, a mindset, or even a life? Do you instinctively know which story might comfort, inspire, or spark something new in a reader? And are you available for shifts both during the week, and on weekends? If so, Middleburg Books would love to meet you. We’re looking for a Part-Time Bookseller to join our team.

In this role, you’ll be the friendly, thoughtful guide who helps customers find the book they’re looking for - even if they don’t quite know what it is yet. Your love of reading and your knack for recommending just-right titles will help our customers discover stories that truly resonate.

You’ll also help keep the store running smoothly—making sure shelves look great, staying on top of inventory, and running a register with ease. It’s all part of creating a welcoming, well-organized space for our community of readers.

If this sounds like your kind of place and you’re excited to turn your passion for books into a meaningful part-time role, we’d be thrilled to have you apply to join us at Middleburg Books.
